Northlake Ob-Gyn, PC was originally established by Drs. Davis, Kral and Allen in 1971 as a Pro-Life Ob-Gyn practice. After Dr. Sotomayor arrived in Atlanta in 1984 following his Obstetrics and Gynecology training in Akron, Ohio, he met these fine practitioners and took over the practice in 1985. He has continued the Pro-Life and Pro-Family philosophy alive and expanded into the Natural Family Planning area on a full time basis since 1997.

Dr. Sotomayor has become a consultant in the 4 recognized methods of Natural Family Planning after extensive studying with world class professors. Since there is no room for contraception when you embrace NFP this forces the practitioner to search for the root causes of Gynecological problems as opposed to masking them with oral contraceptives. No destructive procedures such as abortion or sterilization are advocated in this practice. The application of NFP in the area of Infertility is one of the biggest assets where no ethical compromises are required.

Gerry L. Sotomayor, MD has been in practice at Northside Hospital since 1984 and has served in many significant positions within the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Of special significance has been his involvement in the training of fellow doctors in areas like Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery, Laser Surgery, Hysteroscopy procedures, and most recently in the medical research of stem cells obtained from cord blood. In his 23 years as an Obstetrician he has delivered over 6,000 babies, thus contributing to the national record held by Northside Hospital as the number 1 hospital in the USA. Currently he only practices Gynecology and Infertility in his new office location in Norcross, GA.

Dr. Sotomayor is dedicated to marriage preparation courses offered both in English and Spanish while incorporating the basic aspects of Natural Family Planning. He spends a considerable amount of time in his practice counseling individually as well as couples in the areas of sexuality, fertility, lifestyle adjustments for disease prevention, nutrition, weight management and exercise. His areas of practice include Adolescent Gynecology, Menstrual Disorders, Pelvic Pain, Endometriosis, Pap smear and Colposcopy, Menopause, Osteoporosis, Urinary Stress Incontinence, Pelvic Ultrasound, most Gynecological surgery procedures, and Laser Liposuction.
